Centre for Collective Development (CCD.ngo) has its cooperative setup in three districts as of 2018. One is Adilabad, a northern district of Telangana. The coops are in the tribal region. CCD is working with 117 cooperatives which covers total 236 villages and 8300 farmers. In 2017-18 season the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Soya was set at INR 3050 per quintal. But official said Markfed has no funds to purchase Soybean and would have to borrow from banks. https://www.deccanchronicle.com/nation/current-affairs/071117/telangana-government-bid-to-save-commercial-crops.html Middlemen offered price between INR 2200 to INR 2800 per quintal depending on the quality. https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/telangana/soya-purchases-to-begin-today/article19866161.ece Farmers associated with CCD got INR 3585 per quintal. INR 1000 more than average market rate of INR 2500 per quintal. Here is one such book of one federation of CCD. In Adilabad the coops also work on toor dal and cotton.  In toor dal they did a turnover of over RS.10 crores where the benefit per quintal was Rs.950. In cotton it was Rs.400 per quintal. CCD has also promoted coops in Anantapur district and Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh on different crops. More on that in another blog. CCD through it's partner Grakoos began work in a small way in Raichur District. CCD is expanding this year to Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Odisha and Bihar. FarmVeda (www.farmveda.in), a for-profit social enterprise founded by Dr. Trilochan Sastry (Professor, Former Dean, IIM Bangalore) in 2016 with investments from the Tata Trust and Infosys co-founder. Dr. Sastry started working for farmers way back in 2003 through an NGO he set up called Centre for Collective Development (www.ccd.ngo). This organization promotes cooperatives and supports over 25,000 farmers as of today. After seeing the success of CCD, FarmVeda was established with the mission of taking farmers further up the value chain. This is achieved by establishing a branded food manufacturing company (much along the lines of what Amul is to dairy farmers). Currently, FarmVeda has traditional idli/dosa mixes and podis to offer. Our USP is preservative free, homemade-taste, nutritious food.
